Henderson a Hornet

Watford have completed a £450,000 swoop for Gillingham's star striker Darius Henderson on the eve of the new season. Adrian Boothroyd had been chasing the player's signature throughout the summer and has finally landed the big target man he was after.
23 year-old Henderson scored 9 goals in 28 starts for Gillingham last season as they suffered relegation from the Championship. However, he also netted 5 times in a 6 game spell on loan at Swindon and his career record of 30 goals in 59 starts is very impressive, although 76 substitute appearances show he has not always been a regular starter.
It is thought that Boothroyd moved for Henderson after losing out in the race for Sam Parkin, and the player was keen to make the move once he knew of Watford's interest, even handing in a transfer request.
After missing out on pre-season at Watford, Henderson is unlikely to start against Preston in the season opener, but he may well be awarded a place on the bench. The player is expected to add to the Hornets' physical presence up front and give defenders a rough time of things when he plays.
Darius has signed a 4-year contract with the club and all at GloryHorns would like to wish him the very best for a successful spell at Vicarage Road.
