Seven days...

If you like your bible, a certain supreme being created the universe, the world, and everything.

If you like your TV, a secret US organization could use time travel to send a man back seven days to fix things.

If you like your football, Watford took seven days to get three games into the Premiership season.

if you'd missed the last week and opened your sports supliment in the paper this morning, you would see Watford in 18th place. Ahah, just what everyone outside Vicarage Road expected. The points tally showing the the hornets must have been outclassed in each of their fixtures... but the table does not show the truth.

Yes one point in three games is relegation form, but what we and the critics have seen is a Watford side that have deserved far more than the current points total would indicate. A 2-1 loss at Everton, via a controversal decision that has reopened the debate for video evidence, a 1-1 draw at home against West Ham failed to show that for much of the game we were the side creating the best chances, and a 2-1 loss against the form side of the moment (and past few years) Man Utd.

However, deserved points and actual points in the bag are two different things, and many a side have blamed a season on poor luck and bad decisions.

What we have seen is what we know we already had.. a team that works hard, puts teams under pressure in the right place (their half), and a manager that makes his players want to run through brick walls for him.

So what are we missing? We are certainly defending well, creating the chances, but as shown against West Ham and Man Utd, the Premiership can have a nasty bite waiting for you if you switch off for a second or not take that half chance presented to you.

King, Henderson, and Young, our most potent attacking options have all had good games over this opening period. But despite their attacking flare, we could still do with a real in the box poacher. As much as some of us despise the jug eared presenter of Match of the Day, a Gary Lineker is not found easily or without a little money having to be spent.

The late summer addition of Priskin is definately one for the future, but even with him I believe we are a clynical striker short of being a side how can REALLY upset the teams in this league.

The next four games will be so important in getting some points under us, and I know Mr Boothroyd will take us places.

So even with a two week break (welcome to the Premiership and us in 18th place, I cant wait for the next fixture at Bolton.

To use a phase popular of Aidy..... COME ON!!!!!
