Priskin finally seals Watford deal

The majority of trialists come and go, but the lucky few do enough to convince their prospective clubs that they can add something to their ranks, earning a permanent move. Two years ago, Jay DeMerit was one of those success stories, and now, as Watford approach their first Premiership campaign since 1999/2000, Tamas Priskin is the latest.
A little-known 19 year old Hungarian full international, Priskin linked up with Watford this summer in an attempt to earn a dream move to the Premiership. Appearing alongside the better-known fellow trialist Joseph Desire-Job in Watford's early pre-season fixtures, it was Priskin that stood out, netting 3 goals in 2 games, and picking up a handful of assists as well.
Aidy Boothroyd was impressed with the tall striker's contribution, and set about making moves to tie the player up permanently. As a mark of the player's immediate impact, he was taken as part of the tour party travelling to Denmark, where again he netted, this time after coming on as a late substitute against AC Horsens.
So, 4 goals in just 3 appearances, and Boothroyd clearly realised the potential the talented forward possessed. Despite negotiations being complicated by language issues and the translation of contracts, Watford have now forced through the deal in time for Priskin to play in the friendly fixture against Chievo this Sunday, ahead of the league season starting in earnest the following weekend with the trip to face Everton at Goodison Park.
Although Watford have yet to confirm the fee for the player, reports from Hungary claim the deal is worth £1 million to the player's former club Gyori ETO, with half of the money to be paid up front and the rest to follow. With a significant fee being paid out, Watford fans will be looking for the starlet to make a real impact at Vicarage Road in the coming seasons.
All at GloryHorns would like to extend their congratulations to Tamas for earning this move to England, and wish him the very best for the coming season and the rest of his stay at Watford FC.
