Kick off times
Sep 16, 2006
Author: Corbyhornet

Now, normally I would moan about a late kick off on a Saturday. After all surely if you are playing on a Saturday you have to kick off at 3pm? ............Well it’s traditional!

However it’s 0325 on the Saturday morning of the Villa game as I write this and I am at work, sat at my desk in an office high above Oxford Street listening to the clubbers being rowdy as they wind their way home.

I bet if any of them are Watford or Villa fans they will be grateful for the extra couple of hours tomorrow, especially the poor sod lying in a pool of his own vomit in a drunken stupor in the doorway to Niketown!! The picture of Thierry Henry does actually appear to be looking down on him and frowning at him at his lack of match preparation!

I too will be happy to have that extra couple of hours today. I’m staying in London today and will actually get a decent amount of sleep as opposed to the usual couple of hours here and there as is the norm when on nights around a match day.

So it’s not all bad moving kick off times to accommodate the armchair glory hunters! I wonder however if I would feel the same if we kicked off at 1230 today? The answer to that is very unlikely I would think! What sort of a kick off time is that for a home supporter, let alone an away supporter?

Evening kick offs are not so bad either – Who does much on a Monday night anyway? The Monday night games give you an excuse to go and take in another game on the Saturday. Everyone has a soft spot for another lower division local team.

Lets face it we may wish to change our kick off times come 8pm tomorrow night if the result is favourable to us!
