But bid been rejected ?

Loan move maybe .

Is there a further window for loan signings.?
I am really chuffed about this window... No team leavers, potentially great winger signed, the young midfielder from City, and a "decent" CB...

No additional window. Leavers only now (to Europe or Championship, etc..

So what is the first choice team if all fit (ha ha) after the signings made

Foster

Kiko
Dawson
Cathcart
Holebas

Sarr
Doucoure
Capoue
Geri D.

Welbeck
Deeney

Deeney always plays although Gray might be an option?

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

This is where it gets interesting... GD is poor as a midfielder, doesnt work back etc, he will play up front. Sarr is a winger / striker so we don't know if he can play in midfield either, and we have RP and Hughes as WM.? I have zero idea how Gracia will shoehorn so many attacking players into a team fit for purpose.? 433 is a risk so I wonder if we might go back to a 4231 type formation with Douc and Capoue sitting deep with 4 attackers ahead of them..?

Away from home maybe Hughes might still get a game as he is better defensive wise ?!

Tall team, only two under 6’ (Kiko and GD).

Well if we actually have some decent corners/free kicks might score a goal or two then !

My first eleven when fit...(4231)

Foster
Femenia. Cathcart. Dawson. Holebas.
Doucoure. Capoue.
Sarr. Welbeck. Deulefeu.
Deeney

Edit. Just realised I've listed same players as WFC4....

Okaka left in a permanent deal to join Udinese.

Never really fit enough to have a run in the team .

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

Okaka was obvious but Peneranda more of a surprise loan out. I guess Javi has too many players to keep happy whilst knowing he has a few that are just not yet good enough to get many minutes game time. He clearly likes having a smallish number of first reamers that he can work with and keep happy.? That worked for him last season.
Personally I don't think he has any idea of his best eleven nor best formation, hence has has been sticking to the players he thinks he knows best for the Prem. Jury still out....

I wonder if the club will try to push the boat out in order to try and get players in to help us stay up?

Or is that too much of a risk maybe given you could end up with more players earning a good high wage in the Championship.

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

Can't see much activity in Jan, maybe ship a few out like Foulquier. All the money went on Sarr and paying two managers contracts off, and we don't have the spare cash of others (I suspect Villa and Muff will spend). Pozzos will see if Pearson can keep us up and take things from there.

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

I think the Pozzos will yet again try to bring in some defenders. We are hanging by a thread and too many of the ones we have are old and/or made of glass. The smart money would be to go after 1-2 of the fastest Championship defenders or similar players from perhaps the lower half of the Bundesliga. You might pay a few quid more than you'd like, but in the event we do go down you could keep them, and they might keep us up. We're one more pulled hamstring away from fielding U18's back there.

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

Difficult to predict, however we know that GP doesn't like to spend much in the January window and we are still hot candidates to go down (esp with teams above us keep pickng up wins, like Soton and Newcastle.)
Most of what we can pick will be no better than what we already have so wonder if we might just see a high championship utility man coming in plus a striker that is currently not getting games.
Actually I think it's odds on it will just be a couple of loanees. There's a decent utility man at Swansea we might make use of.....?

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

See that NP seems to be saying that he is happy to stick with the current squad and not looking for additions in this window.?
I can see why he says that, but I would say we should try and get Wilmot back from Swansea to provide some cover at the back. With Kiko injured and Kabs likely banned we are looking a bit old in defence and stretched....

Probably doesn't want to rock the boat by saying we need new players as he wouldn't have much say in it .

Yes and his approach will be appreciated by GP who has to keep relegation in mind. If he asked for and got a big spend in January, and we went down, he might get the boot. This way he ticks all the boxes and would surely now stay on next season whatever the outcome.?

I see Villa have lost Heaton and Wesley for the season - ouch. They'll be spending.

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

Yes this is the time of season when injuries start kicking in. I am hoping we got some of ours out of the way early this season, maybe that's why NP isn't after more players, we might have Cleverly and welbeck back in a few weeks so I am just expecting us to bring in a defender on loan...
