Sounds like we won't be making signings for the sake of it going by what Pearson said.

Quality over quantity he'll probably want!

Could be but now sounds like a replacement for success.?

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

With Pedro and Pussetto now on board it seems safe to assume the only other addition will be a left side defender.?
My feeling is that we're looking at cheapish options / loan players, and if nothing comes through we'll just bring Wilmot back at the last minute.?
How about at last minute we see Success and Gray move on and we put in a cheeky offer on Rose...?

Not sure Rose is in great form but then Pearson seems to have the nack of getting people to play!

Seems like we are in for Ben Gibson - back up defender at Burnley.

I am feeling more sure we won't see any major signing in the end. NP has made it clear he is OK going with what we've got, and whilst Rose would or should be able to come straight in and make an impact but that won't happen, and anyone else will only be a suckitandsee.?
With Kiko soon back, Massina starting to look like the real thing, Holebas as cover etcetc I think we have to rely on NP to get the best out of what we've got...?

Pearson did say before that he was happy with the squad and didn't want players for the sake of it.

Was quite keen to point out we had injured players coming back too.

The Pozzo's don't really like to aquire in the January window as the prices tend to be inflated.

Sounds like we are still pushing for a loan deal on the Burnley guy.? I guess loan makes most sense...

Everton were offered 85 million for a Richarlison!

Do we have a sell on clause ?

Get the feeling Pearson would like a new player or two but in public at least isn't going to kick up too much of a fuss.

For now anyway ..

Still not sure we need any new players right now.?
Femenia almost back and Massina looking decent.
Chabs back to form and Hughes + Cleverly soon back to partner Capoue if needed.
Douc playing well, with options of Deulefeu, Sarr, Pereyra, Cleverly, Hughes, Pussetto alongside.
Deeney up top with back up poss from gray, Sarr, success or pussetto if required.
Maybe a proper goal grabber would be our best purchase to give good striker cover for Deeney, but if welbeck is really properly fit, then that's also covered....

don't suppose there's any news on Sarr? I've seen reports of eight weeks out.

People always want new players but we don't want to buy for the sake of it and ATM we cannot think about much more than the next 4 months or so as staying up or going down will make a difference to future transfer plans.

Agreed, we're not awash with money just because we're PL as the accounts have shown previously. Too many fans playing Football Manager. In my view the squad is clearly good enough to stay up if they can be bothered to do so, and injuries happen to everyone.

Post subject:  Re: Transfers....

Well there was a recent podcast which suggested we owed 80 million in transfer fees and 90 million in loans to the Pozzos themselves!

No wonder we aren't spending.

Anyway look at how long it took Sarr to settle- we cannot afford that.

Any sigings would have to fit in straight away like the Argentinan chap has.

Ben Gibson for example has hardly played so we don't want to pay too much as Burnley expect.

Who knows - don't think the medical team really do either!

I think that could do with a shake up tbh even more so than the squad itself!

How long will Welbeck and Cleverley stay fit for example..

TBH Of our relegation rivals only West Ham spent any money and they always seem to mess that up despite getting good looking players on paper.

Aston Villa needed to get a striker and new keeper in due to injuries - they will probably just rely on Grealish though.

Don't think Bournemouth or Brighton signed anyone of note.
