Encouraging performance - excellent goals by Pereyra and a overall a decent team performance.
Deeney and Gray linked up well and the midfield/defence looked solid.
Not that Brighton offered much.
Come On You Horns!
We are back...for how long?

Surely we can't sell Pereyra now!!? I doubted him last season as he looked frail and uncommitted but clearly he is now fully fit and raring to go.
Nice to see several of last years squad looking 25% better this time around, I assume the club saw enough potential in the remaining squad to keep them and not go too mad in the transfer market?
Pereyra, Capoue, Hughes, Kabs, Cathcart, and maybe even Janmaat, all looking like good fresh new arrivals....

Yes, was generally impressed with what we did and 4-4-2 was key yesterday. Everyone seemed to press well and high. Still gave the ball back cheaply at times. We won't look so good against the big boys with wayward passing, we will get punished. Must say holebas has suddenly learnt how to clear the first man. What A difference that has made.

My only concern is how Gracia is going to be able to keep the new players happy. If we go 442 we don't have many current options for CM but I reckon we are overloaded with wide midfield options, with GD, RP, WH, Sema, Quina, and possibly also Cleverly when fit and maybe Success if he is considered a wide man. Oh and then there's Peneranda if he gets a permit..
Nice problem to have I suppose.....

Thinking back to RP's goals v Brighton, I think it hit home how much we need players like him and Hughes in the team. We can huff and puff all day long without scoring, last year especially, but the Prem is not just about knocking pretty passes around the pitch. RP's goals were both down to his quality and apart from the decent cross for his first, he made them happen all by himself with moments of brilliance.
Tbh I have always wanted players to put in the work, grind things out, but I think we have some real talent now and I hope Gracia encourages the boys to show their stuff, rather than hope somebody else can tuck the ball away.
If half of the new players can also "make things happen" then this could be a good season?
I would love to see us put one over on Burnley!!!
