Well Long and Remond are bound to perform.

Let's hope we do as 3 points is a must.

I am hoping that the last performance was the result of poor first half team selections, horrible journey in roasting conditions, rotten hot changing rooms, etc etc.
Other than that I'll say no more.

Oh dear - couple of our players have been having a big party.

Breaking the lockdown and before a big game.

Both not great.

Probably explains why we haven't seen much of either.

3 changes - all quite predictable.

Welbeck out - Pereyra in the main one.

Gray, Quina and Chalobah not involved.

I have to believe that NP has told them to go easy first half and save energy for the second half because we sure play like it's a nice training match for 45 mins....

Edit... We are basically looking like a bunch of players that GT would have said "not in my team you're not.! “ so little energy...

Typical - we play crap but then get a goal back..

Then go and give one away!

Maybe should have got a penalty but probably would have misssd.

No one played even average .

We've got some big problems.....
Others teams happy to ping the ball about, retain possession and play with zest, whilst our lot look like they are frightened to run too much for fear of being tired.!
We need to start playing the younger players that are prepared to have a real go of it.. I feel totally frustrated about things and staying up is going to depend on others around us keeping on losing...!!!

In an overall sea of crap I thought Pereyra (shockingly) and Femenia played well throughout their time on the pitch. Capoue was solid in the second half and Masina was fine. Deeney and Sarr were blanketed. Doucoure was anonymous. Hughes a mixture. The central defenders were... themselves. they are what they are and therein lies a huge problem. Let's not discuss Foster. He's been immense this year but not today.

Yes, we were playing scared and largely one-sided throughout most of the match. We need to have the bravery to get width on both sides and play positive balls that aren't hoofballs.

I used to think we lack confidence amongst the team and that is true of some of them, but I reckon some of them are over confident in their own ability, basically trying nothing but "worldy" passes, flicks and aimless long balls...
Sorry I just so furious.... "Cojones" comes to mind....

We just seem to fail at the vital moments.

Even getting that goal back you thought well here we go - last 10 minutes with fresh legs on the pitch.

Then we give a silly foul away and it's 3-1.

The 2nd was from our mistake and the 1st we let Ings run at us - even a block tackle might have out him off.

Southampton didn't have to work that hard.

Our best players seem to be well out of form which doesn't help - Sarr/Deeney/ AD.

Pereyra did do better I thought and Hughes did ok but if our full backs are the better players then that says it all.

Doesn't bode well as we aren't creating chances and clearly not look very fit sadly.

Ironic thing is, somebody on here recently said that some teams won't want to play and maybe Burnley are one of those teams, what with their player contract issues.
Turns out it's little old Watford players who don't fancy it and seemingly are not up for the fight.??!!
Douc is half the player he was, Deeney is one trick pony, and Sarr is too young and inexperienced at this level.... Lock down has clearly taken a huge edge off most of our senior players..

Remember Pearson isn't certain to be here next season.

Does he want to stay regardless of if we stay up or not..

What is his motivation level?

Seems a bit "oh well we lost - let's move on"

We have all these players out on loan - are they going to come back ?

We have players who want out or not fit enough to play so many games it seems.

And now 2/3 squad players having lockdown parties!

I think Pearson feels no real pressure tbh. He came in to do a rescue act and his main aim is to gee the players up and get them back to basics. He did that to a certain extent but his smile after yesterdays game tells me he is fairly laid back coz if the players can't or won't play as he asks he can say "sorry did my best but this overpaid bunch are really hard to motivate and not the type I usually get to work with so what more can I do.?"
Pretty sure he wont stick around if we go down, not unless GP agrees to a big clear out...

If we go down a clear out is inevitable.
