If they wanted to inspire us, could they not have found a better picture? Makes him look like the archetypal nutter on the bus.

Well, I hope so, but I am a fair bit less optimistic about it.

WATFORD FC confirms the appointment of Gianfranco Zola as First Team Manager.

The 46-year-old Italian has signed a two-year contract at Vicarage Road.

"Everyone knows how Gianfranco Zola likes football to be played," said Watford's Technical Director Gianluca Nani of the appointment.

"I think Watford's fans can expect an exciting and attacking style from his team. Gianfranco represents this project perfectly."

Zola gained initial coaching experience working with the Italy Under-21 squad shortly after he'd retired from playing at the age of 39.

The Sardinian then guided West Ham United to a ninth-place finish in the 2008/09 Premier League, before parting company with the Hammers at the end of the following campaign.

The former Napoli, Parma and Chelsea goalscorer was capped 35 times by Italy during a glittering playing career which included title-winning medals at club level for the UEFA Cup, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, England's FA Cup & League Cup as well as Serie A in Zola's home country.

What a great 16th birthday present that was.

Zola's Italian army?
Pozzo's Gianfranco army?
Gianluca's Duxbury army?

Whatever the circumstances of his appointment, Zola is a top bloke and I certainly trust him more than Vialli to run our club in line with our heritage.

He will also attract a better class of loanee ( Wenger, SAF, di Matteo etc will all respect him and trust him to coach their players to play the right way).

Am happy that he has been appointed and looking forward to the next couple of seasons

There wont be room under the project for any of them loanees!

Seems they will all be coming from Udinese!

Remember you can only have 5 loanees in your matchday squad.

Bringe, you don't really believe that Zola is actually the manager do you ? He is clearly just a front for someone else, probably Lewington

Zola is just a coach, Nani is the real manager, Duxbury the legal/accounts department. I haven't spent 13 years on the continent without learning something about how European clubs are run.

If you are saying he can attract a better class of loanee than AJ, Cleverley, Lansbury, Mutch, Kightly & Katchanutlick.....then I will be seriously impressed.

That little lot would be lost in what we're about to unleash on the unsuspecting British public ....

.... Well maybe not quite but we'll get some nice Pozzo loans and no doubt the odd Birdcunt thrown in to balance things.
