I'd take him, despite his past. The more pacey players we can get the better

Yep - I feel sure that Silva wants more movement and pace and last year we had only one player who could provide it in Amrabat - but then he never really delivered anything worthwhile anyway ?

Having players like Gray, Richarlison, Pereyra, Success and Hughes moving the ball about at pace in attack is starting to make me quite excited !

£18m reportedly the fee, blimey

I wonder whether Brentford have a sell on clause? Would explain why we're paying so much

Seems quite steep by our standards but guess nothing comes cheap nowdays.

Got pace and an eye for goal - just hope he keeps sensible on Twitter!

The market is mental. There must be better value elsewhere. Sounds like the failure to get someone in sooner has pushed up the price we are willing to pay.

A decent signing if it happens, just an astonishing fee.

I think the actual fee they receive will be closer to £14m, assuming Brentford have a sell on clause that we've agreed to cover. For his age and nationality, I think that's about right.

I think this would be a great signing. His record of 9 from 26 last year is not bad at all when playing in a poorer side especially if they weren''t pens (don't know if they were or not) and he always looks good when I've seen him.

Pinching myself slightly that Watford have signed such quality players in this window. Although some are not proven in the Premiership I have always liked the look of Hughes and Chalobah, Cleverly is experienced, Richarlison a talent if Grey comes too he actually has proved he can cut it in the Prem. Well done Pozzos , and all British (Richarlison exepted) too!! It's been a long time since we have had a current England international in our ranks........that may change this season!

He's raw pace and power, which is something we've sorely lacked. I think although the fee is high, i'd rather we take a chance on a more expensive player than multiple punts on players like Oulare that end up costing us more in the long run.

Its also another step towards us naming a proper 25 man squad, rather than fannying around before the squad deadline trying to figure out which random foreign lad is for the chop.

£11.5m according to Sky, plus add ons if we win the Champions League and he scores the winner in the world cup final

I think he did take some penalties but still got to score them and if Deeney is in the team he won't take them anyway.

His pace will be the main asset and with the ability of our midfielders to hopefully pick out a pass then that sounds promising.

Burnley fans say his ball control isn't great but then he has probably had long ball pumped to him most of the time against strong centre halves.

11.5 seems a much more realistic fee. A striker with pace would be very welcome.

Even if it is £7m more, I would gladly pay that if it meant weakening a side around us, which it will

Unless they have a better replacement lined up with the proceeds of course.

Perhaps, but I can't see many of those around, especially ones willing to move to somewhere as grim as Burnley.
