Looks like this might be happening after a few false starts:

First "proper" Centre half we've had for years really...
I guess part of the decision here was that he is home grown, and we have quite a few foreign youngsters lined up. They must believe in the long term ability of Kabasele, so I wonder if Dawson is the cheap option to replace Prodl, with another CB to follow? (assuming that Prodl does leave this summer.)

Don't think Prodl and Gracia get on so think the former will go .

Yeah, so with Prodl and britos out it's Dawson plus A. N. Other CB in, or.... Gracia holds on to Wilmot as a CB option?
If only Kabasele could be a bit more consistent...

Ok so a day on, I am actually very pleased with the acquisition of Dawson. We haven't had a proper English style centre back for some years. Prodl was closest to what I thought was a tough CB, but only the club knows what went wrong there.? Who cares if he can't pass the ball, we have enough decent ball playing midfielders that fill that role, we just need to defend better. Recently we seem to struggle at CB because we always seem to have a decent nbr2 CB, who could be really good behind the right / decent line-leading CB.
So now for eg, Cathcart can leave Dawson to lead the line and he can provide the cover in behind. Likewise its possible that Kaba can play more comfortably behind Dawson? (don't shout, just a thought).
I could also see Wilmot being OK besides Dawson, someone to learn off. Maps won't get much chance this season....
