Not great news but then those three haven't really done much in the first two games have they. This is a great opportunity for Gracia to make some crafty tactical changes, so I will interested to see what team and formation he puts out for this one....

I will be interested to see who takes Doucs place in CM. DeleB won't be a starter yet, so it's between Cleverly, Quina and Challobah.? This should be Chabs opportunity, so if he's not selected he surely won't be happy.?

The bench is potentially better than the staring line up !

Doucoure fit . Gray and Cleverley in .

Sarr , Chalobah , Quina , Welbeck on bench .

When our continuing form over 6 months is this bad I wonder how long GP will give Gracia.? Unless JG changes something soon we will start getting more desperate as the weeks go on. Biggest problem is that we no longer have anyone to cause damage, ( last year we had special goals from a few players but we've gone flat.)

Back four has been woefully neglected for years. Can't "invest" in a Championship centre half and expect things to be any different from the end of last season.

Giving away 3 goals to Brighton and West Ham at home is a bad sign .

We actually played ok in attack till they went 2-1 up.

Not that the West Ham goalie was over tested tbh.

The defence has been crap for a while, my worry is that JG was so sure of himself last season that he thought one new defender and a winger would be enough. He also seems keen to show GP that he can make do without lots of summer spending, but that now looks a big mistake.? Every year the bottom two teams keep on about being unlucky, having a good spirit, and look g for improvement, but it's always just cheap hopeful talk...

Doesn't matter if you sign a winger for 30 million or an ex England striker because if you cannot defend its going to be a long season. .

Summed up by Hughes miss - didn't think he'd have enough power to kick it over form 2 yards!

Javi doesn't buy the players. We didn't want to pay the current overinflated rates for CBs. We tried to do things like get the Barca bloke in on loan.

We may have to now try a back 3, although that means sitting someone better up front. Cant see a lineup with Doucoure and Capoue in front of a back 3 generating much. Given Pereyra's gimpy, perhaps the point is moot for now. Maybe we'll see something like:

--------------------------Foster
--------------Catchcart, Dawson, Kabasele
Femenia/Janmaat --------------------------- Holebas
-----------------Doucoure -------Capoue
-------Sarr-------------Grey/Welbeck----------Deulofeu

Might plug the middle at least. Still worry about the ends.

TBH, I wouldn't mind sitting Capoue in that for Hughes. Despite the miss, he picks out a pass better than most.

Could of done better for the last 2 goals - two missed tackles in the build up .

Doucoure was a bit unlucky for the penalty.

Attacker played it well .

I like Hughes as well - tidy passer proven by the Gray goal who also finished well.

They would be great in the Championship!

I think Gracias future now depends on his ability to change things. Morale and confidence looks low, players not up to pace making silly challenges etc etc, but if he is a typical football manager and sticks with his failing formation, then on his way out.? It's in his hands really...
On the bright side at least we have a decent crop of youngsters coming thru in U23s that should be useful in the championship....
