I said last year werent ready for Europa and Burnley suffered from it. A good wolves team has done the same early this season, but they have a very good attack and our defence is not great. Again depends on whether the team switches on ala Arsenal or not. Don't fancy our chances much unless we have started to clear the cobwebs...

Got to be Janmaat this time, he looks strong compared with Kiko. I despair in modern fullbacks, it's not a difficult position you just have to be fairly quick and read your wingers movements, at base level you defend with your life and hit row Z if in doubt. The emergence of the need for footballing defenders has been a huge blight on defences.
I would like to see Challobah brought in to sit in front of our defence, he did it well several years ago for us. Then set up a four man midfield, which I would set up with say Pereyra, Capoue, Doucoure, Quina, and then Sarr up top.

Sounded a bit unlucky but then if you keep letting crosses in that will happen.

Not sure we've had an effort on goal.

Goodness knows how we are going to afford some of these players in the Championship!

This what the lack of investment in the defence causes and having an aging squad with some players who maybe would rather be elsewhere.

The Pozzos have been very good to us and credit to them but they must know we needed improvements in the certain areas and young players?

Every year there's a sucker club that can't buy a win, can't drag up any real confidence, and look doomed early in the season. It's our turn we tick Every box for certain relegation.
GP etc got the summer very wrong and if you look back to many of our wins last season there were a lot of lucky wins won by outrageous goals by Pereyra etc. That confidence has long gone and for some reason GP was so confident of this squad he didn't improve it. He chose to "invest in the future" and bought numerous youngsters in cling Sarr and Pedro. Massive mistake which I am sure will mean Championship next season.
At least we will have a good selection of kids to use next season when half of our jokers leave or start their big sulks.!
(oh for a couple of FBs like Robbo...)

Flores doesn't seem to know how to solve the problems.

So 31 games to get to 38 points to reach the magical 40.
Minus games against City, Liverpool (twice), Spurs (twice), Chelski (twice), Leicester (twice) and maybe Man Utd (one).
I'd say we're f*****.

I guess we'll never know if GP made the decision not to invest in defenders, but I am now wondering if Gracia was sacked because a) he worked the team too hard in pre season which has finished off players like Capoue and Holebas and even Douc looks jaded, b) Gracia insisted he wanted to keep this group together for now, and c) it became clear that he was wrong all along and GP felt mislead.
Our aging players hit the buffers last March, we just don't seem to have any confidence.
Flores needs to find a younger more dynamic eleven ASAP, Quina stands out as having the right energy levels so get him in plus try DeleB and Chabs.... We just want to see some energy and passion...
